A compact, self contained breathing apparatus that will provide optimal protection for a civilian escaping a fire. 
PROBLEM
Fires have become increasingly more common and incredibly more dangerous due to the newer more flammable synthetic materials implemented in current household furniture.
CORE HAZARDS
Under normal conditions, the percent of oxygen in the air is roughly 21%. Even when this percentage is just slightly lowered to 16% physical and mental ability becomes significantly impaired.
EXPLORATION OF FORM
Understanding the most comfortable options for form and methods for attachment while providing a tight seal around the face and mouth. Through user testing I researched comfort, structure, and how easy it is to apply. 
EXPLORATION OF FUNCTION
Exploration of the system itself. What I need in regards to an external oxygen supply, filtration along with improving visibility through smoke piercing lights.
IDEATION
Many factors lied within the adjust-ability, weight, price-point, ease of application, and lack of visual disruption. 
Touching on the core elements of the designs functions that allow this product to flourish in the field.
MOODBOARD
Users should feel secure in these dark spaces and understand that this product will help them perform but also be a beacon to notify fire fighters upon their arrival.
